Overland and Trekking Trips in Tibet

Tibet represents the mysterious destination for travellers from all over the world. A land of ancient Bon and the rewarding Lamaistic Buddhism and centuries old caravan trails. Famed as roof of the world, the Tibetan autonomous region of PR China lies on a plateau behind the Himalayas on the average elevation of 4000mtr. from sea level. Tibet covers an area of 1.2 million sq. km. and has a population of 2.3 million.
Tour and trek to holy Mount Kailash of western Tibet, near the border of Nepal, is one of the most exciting travels in the world. The geography of the Tibetan plateau makes the journey hard but with endless views of the Himalayas from the northern side, landscapes of Tibet and several high passes (over 4500mtr) to cross—give thrilling experience for any adventure enthusiasts. Most part of the tour is a long drive on rough road by 4 wheel vehicle. Trekking is only for a few days around Mt. Kailash and Mansarovar Lake. Mt. Kailash, is regarded as the most sacred mountain in the world. No other peaks are praised as equal as to Kailash from the religious point of view. Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and the Bons all pay the equal loyalty to this mountain as the center of the earth, as home of God Shiva or as a symbol of spiritual power for human beings. Aside Mt. Kailash, the holiest lake, Mansarovar is another attraction of the trip in itself. Lake Mansarovar is the source of 4 holy rivers in Asia, the Tsang Po river in Tibet, the Indus and Satlej in India and the Karnali in Nepal. All in all, the tour in Mt. Kailash gives a lifetime experience. Tamang Expeditions arranges trekking trips and mountaineering from the Tibet side as per the regulation of Tibet-China tourism law.
